 The Reading Well Handmade is open for online orders 24/7. I’m typically busy stitching, shipping, and responding to messages Monday–Friday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. EST. Expect a reply within 1–2 business days! 

•  Yes, we offer free shipping within the United States on orders of $35 or more.

While we truly appreciate the interest from our international customers, the high costs of postage and customs fees such as VAT make it difficult to provide affordable international shipping at this time.

• We hope to explore viable options in the future, but for now, our shipping is limited to the U.S.

 Absolutely! Once your order has shipped, you’ll receive a tracking number by email so you can easily follow its journey to your doorstep. Most shipments are sent via USPS, providing reliable delivery times. If you have any questions along the way, don’t hesitate to get in touch — we’re always happy to assist! 

•    We ship most orders using USPS Ground Advantage, which usually takes 3–5 business days to arrive after shipping. The cost is $4.00 for the first item, plus $0.50 for each additional item.
• If you prefer faster delivery, we offer USPS Priority Mail, which typically takes 2–3 business days. Pricing for Priority Mail depends on weight—up to 1 pound, it’s a flat rate; for heavier packages, we use padded flat rate envelopes or other flat rate options to keep shipping costs reasonable.
• And don’t forget—orders over $35 ship free within the U.S.!

•  Standard orders are processed and shipped within 1–2 business days after your order is received—unless a time-away notice is posted. If I’m away, you’ll be informed of the exact shipping date.
• Custom orders start processing 1–2 business days after final payment is received and the project is complete. Throughout the process, I’ll keep you updated with timelines so you know when to expect your special item.

 You can make changes or cancel your order anytime before it has shipped. Just reach out as soon as possible—I'll ask for a brief reason (like ordered by mistake or changed your mind) to help improve the process.
Once your order has shipped, unfortunately, cancellations aren’t possible. But if there’s ever an issue, just get in touch and I’ll do my best to help! 

 Yes! I offer simple, elegant gift wrapping with white paper and your choice of a red or blue ribbon. If you’d like to include a gift note, just provide the message you want to send—like a heartfelt sentiment with a bouquet of flowers. I’ll add it carefully with your order to make your gift extra special! 

•  I do my best to make sure every order arrives safely—but sometimes things happen. If your item arrives damaged, please send a photo of the packaging and the item itself. Once confirmed as a no-fault issue, I’ll either issue a refund or send a replacement. Please note: due to the scrappy nature of my quilting and fabric availability, replacements may not be an exact match but will be very similar in tone and design.
• If your tracking shows “delivered” but you didn’t receive the package, please first check with neighbors, family members, or even the family dog (porch pirates come in all species!). If it truly never arrives, I’ll send a replacement—again, as close as possible to the original.

 Each item comes with a care tag tied on with a ribbon—because details matter! Most pieces are made with 100% cotton fabric, cotton or poly-cotton batting, and often flannel backings.

To care for your handmade item:

• Machine wash on cool or warm
   
• Tumble dry or lay flat to dry
   
• Optional: Use a steam iron to press if you prefer a crisp look—or leave as-is to enjoy that soft, cozy crinkled charm
   

Handmade doesn’t have to mean high-maintenance. These pieces are made to be loved and lived with!

 Yes! I love creating custom pieces just for you. Whether it’s a gift, a special request, or something inspired by a color or fabric you love, I’ll work with you one-on-one to bring your vision to life. You can start a custom request anytime through the Custom Order Form 

 Once I receive your request, I’ll be in touch to confirm details, provide a timeline, and give you a price quote. You'll receive updates throughout the process, and after final approval and payment, your item will be stitched, packed, and shipped with care. 

 Absolutely! I can often accommodate requests for favorite colors, themes, or styles using my current stash of fabrics (including reclaimed and vintage). Just note: due to the scrappy and one-of-a-kind nature of my work, exact prints may vary—but I’ll always keep the overall tone and spirit you request. 

 It depends on the size and complexity of your request. Smaller custom orders like mug rugs (up to 20) typically take 3–5 business days once all the details are finalized. Larger batches, such as 100 bookmarks, may take up to a week. If you’re ordering a lap quilt or larger project, please allow up to 2 weeks for completion. I’ll always provide an estimated timeline upfront and keep you updated throughout the process. 

• I do my best to accommodate rush orders! For faster delivery, I recommend selecting USPS Priority Mail at checkout. While I sometimes offer free shipping during the holidays, it applies only to USPS Ground Advantage (3–5 business days).
• For custom orders, I’ll work as quickly as possible, but due to the handmade nature of each piece, I encourage placing large custom holiday orders at least 4 weeks in advance. The final three months of the year are especially busy, and time fills up fast!
• To guarantee delivery in time for Christmas, standard (non-custom) orders should be placed no later than 5 business days before the holiday.

•  Yes! If you’re within 25 miles of Delaware, Ohio, I offer local pickup or doorstep delivery. We can arrange to meet at a convenient public location, or I can deliver your item right to your door. 

 To arrange local pickup or delivery, just select the option at checkout and provide your contact information. After receiving your order, I’ll contact you to confirm the details and coordinate a convenient time and place. 

 There is a $5.00 fee for local pickup or delivery within a 25-mile radius of Delaware, OH. This small charge helps cover travel costs and keeps things running smoothly. If fuel prices significantly increase, the delivery fee may adjust slightly—thank you for understanding. 

 I’m happy to meet you at a convenient public location or drop your order off at your home. For everyone’s safety and comfort, I don’t enter customer homes and won’t ask anyone to visit mine—porch or doorstep delivery keeps it easy and respectful for both of us.
